Sea Devils Sweep Weekend

Sea Devils Sweep Weekend

Wilmington, NC- For the second straight day the Cape Fear Women's Soccer team took the field, notching back to back victories by knocking off CCBC Catonsville of Baltimore County, MD, 6-0 in non-conference action.

Anna Mixon (Emerald Isle, NC/Croatan H.S.) got her second goal of the weekend off an assist from Nicole Tiller (Wilmington, NC/New Hanover H.S.) in the first seven minutes of the game.  That would be the only goal of the half. The second half started quickly for the Sea Devils as Tiller put away an easy open goal after the goal keeper was beat.  The goals kept pouring in with Tiller knocking in her second goal of the match off a throw in from Mixon.  Jamie Berti (Jacksonville, NC/Southwest H.S.) notched one of her two goals after a breakaway assist from Alexis Thompson (Beulaville, NC/East Duplin H.S.) and then not three minutes later finished off a cross from Courtney Cox (Chicopee, MA/Chicopee H.S.).  Armani Boswell (Jacksonville, NC/Southwest H.S.) added the final touch with a breakaway goal in the last minutes of the game.

The Sea Devils outshot the Cardinals 31-3, with Allyssa Alley (Whiteville, NC/Whiteville H.S.) making 2 saves.

"I'm really proud of the team effort today, " commented Sea Devil head coach Melissa Anderson.  "We played 90 minutes of good soccer and this gives us a great foundation to build on for the season."

The 2-0 Sea Devils will be on the road next weekend in Louisburg, NC to face South Georgia at 5:00pm on Saturday and Southern Maryland at 2:00pm on Sunday.
