Cape Fear vs USC Lancaster
USC Lancaster wins 3-0
In Short: Cape Fear Women's Soccer fell short with defensive breakdowns against USC Lancaster.
Highlights: The Sea Devils faced a tough defeat against USC Lancaster, conceding three goals in a match where defensive missteps proved costly. Lancaster struck first in the opening half with a cross that slipped past Cape Fear's goalkeeper, putting them up 1-0. Cape Fear's defense struggled to find their rhythm when it came to marking dangerous players as they made their way down the pitch, leading to a second goal off a free kick before halftime. While Kenliana Dixon and Brynli Baker had a few promising offensive runs, the Sea Devils struggled to possess the ball and conceded possession to USC Lancaster in most 50-50 scenarios.
In the second half, Lancaster extended their lead with a well-placed cross and a one-touch finish around the Sea Devils' defense. Isabelle Ingoe also attempted to shake things up for Cape Fear and regain some ball control on her team's behalf.
Despite some competitive play, CFCC couldn't recover from the early goals and finished the match 0-3.
Final Thoughts: "We lacked urgency today, which led to our disappointing result," says Head Coach C.W. Ponton. "We will rebound quickly as we prepare for our next game on Wednesday."
