Sea Devils Men’s Soccer Picks Up Region 10 Win

Lancaster, SC - The Cape Fear Community College Men's Soccer Team improved  to 5-1-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 10 play yesterday with a 4-3 win over USC-Lancaster in Lancaster, SC.  The Sea Devils got on the board early, when Emmett Lunceford slipped a ball to on rushing freshman forward, Mark Fuentes in the 9th minute.  Cape Fear continued to control most of the play through the first half, and went up 2-0 in the 51st minute, when David Segura used an assist from Victor Flores to go up 2 nil.  USC-Lancaster answered back just minutes later with a goal in the 53rd minute.  The Sea Devils scored again in the 58th minute, when Derek Yates' corner kick went directly into the Lancers goal.  In the 71st minute, Yates took another corner kick, this time finding Alex Amicy, who headed the ball into the back of the net to put the Sea Devils up 4-1.  The Lancers used a penalty kick in the 85th minute, and a late goal in the 87th minute to tighten the score, but Cape Fear was able to hold on for their fifth straight win and second victory in Region 10 play.  The Sea Devils return home this Saturday as they take on USC-Salkehatchie at the North Campus Soccer Field.  Kick-off is set for 2:00 pm.
