Cape Fear Men’s Soccer Upset in Tourney

WILMINGTON, NC – Even though Cape Fear Community College men's soccer team dominated play Wednesday afternoon at the North Campus Soccer Field in the first round of the Region 10 playoffs, six-seeded USC Salkehatchie upset the third-seeded Sea Devils, 1-0.

USC Salk scored in the fifth minute of the contest for the only goal of the match as Cape Fear outshot the visitors, 11-4. Sophomore mid-fielder Gabe Moore narrowly missed an equalizer in the 80th minute.

The Sea Devils finished with an overall record of 12-6-3 and 8-4-3 in Region 10 conference play.

"I'm very proud of my team in my first season as the men's coach," Chris Libert noted. "We have a great foundation to build upon for next season."
