CFCC Women’s Basketball Off To A Stellar Start

Wilmington, NC – It's 'HER'story!  The Cape Fear Community College women's basketball team played their first official game in school history Saturday afternoon and were victorious over Mid-Atlantic Christian University, 114-41.

Not only did four Lady Sea Devils score in double digits, but all ten players on the roster contributed to the final score.

Jordan Hill led the way for the Sea Devils, ending the night with a double-double consisting of a game-high 33 points and 11 rebounds.  Wilmington native Shanta Williams followed closely with 20 points, while Shelby Morris and Porsha Buchanan both chipped in 15 and 11 points respectively.

"I was very pleased with the way our ladies performed Saturday," head coach Lori Drake commented.  "We came out a little shaky due to nerves and excitement, but we dusted those off and really started to gel as a team.  We must now redirect our focus to our first conference game against Wake Tech on Wednesday."

The now 1-0 Lady Sea Devils will host Wake Tech Community College this Wednesday at the Schwartz Center on Cape Fear Community College's Downtown Campus.  Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.   Students and Faculty get in free with I.D.
