Lady Sea Devils Win First Conference Game

Wilmington, NC – In their inaugural season, the CFCC Women's Basketball Team emerged victorious in their first conference game against Wake Technical Community College, by a score of 49-45.

The Lady Sea Devils outscored the Eagles 22-17 in the first half, but Wake Tech gave them a run late in the second half, outscoring CFCC by a one.  As the final score might indicate, both teams struggled from the floor, shooting less than 30% each.  However, CFCC was able to hold on to their lead and win their first conference match in school history.

Sea Devils point guard Porsha Buchanan had a great night as she scored 10 points, pulled down 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.  Alexis Redd led the team in scoring with 12 points, while also pulling down 7 boards.  Alex Washington contributed to the team's 40 overall rebounds with 8 rebounds of her own.  Wake Tech was led by Courtnei Gilbert with 14 points and Brittany Collins with 11 rebounds.

CFCC will be on the road this weekend for two games against out of state opponents at Louisburg College.
