Lady Sea Devils Edge Out Eagles With Last Second Shot

Raleigh, NC – December doesn't seem like the appropriate month for fireworks, but that didn't stop lady Sea Devil freshman Alexis Redd from providing them by way of a last second three-pointer to put her team up by one with less than a second remaining in the game.  Sea Devil head coach Lori Drake commented, "Alexis Redd stepped up big, and hitting a game winner is one of the most fulfilling joys any athlete can experience." Redd's final shot gave the lady Sea Devils their first and only lead of the game.  That one lead was all CFCC needed, winning 59-58 for a conference victory. "We showed character and growth in our win over Wake Tech.  Giving up was never an option for our ladies," Coach Drake added.

This victory took CFCC to 2-0 in conference play in their inaugural season.  Jordan Hill led the way for the lady Sea Devils with 19 points and 11 rebounds; her second double-double of the season.  Shelby Morris added 11 points to the total, while Wilmington native and team captain, Ashley Altman provided 5 assists to her teammates.

The lady Sea Devils have a little over a week off as they prepare for final exams and the end of their academic semester.  They will play next at Brunswick Community College on December 17th- 19th in a holiday tournament against non-conference opponents including teams from Maryland and Georgia.  Region 10 conference play will ensue after the New Year.
