Dolphins Sweep Doubleheader

Supply, NC - The Brunswick Community College men's and women's basketball teams swept a Saturday doubleheader from Cape Fear CC on Saturday.

Cam Jones had a game-high 31 points to lead BCC past the Sea Devils 84-67 in Region 10 play, and the Lady Dolphins handed CFCC its first loss of the season 79-74 in the early tip-off in Supply.

On the women's side, Crystal Smith and Kenedria Smith guided BCC to their fourth straight win with 18 points apiece. Eboni Gilliam had a big game in the setback as the sophomore recorded a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Kristina Rumplasch added 11 points and 10 boards, while Shanta Williams chipped in with 10 for the Sea Devils.

The Lady Phins improved to 9-5 overall, while Cape Fear dropped to 11-1 and 1-1 in conference. The Lady Sea Devils continue their four game road trip on Monday, Jan. 13 at Wake Tech. The Dolphins travel to Wake Tech on Wednesday, Jan. 15.

Jacques Chambers added 15 points and Chris Pompey finished with 13 for the men as the BCC snapped a four game losing streak with the victory. Osandai Vaughn had 24 points and 11 rebounds for Cape Fear.  Anthony Vanhook rounded out the double digit scoring with 17 points and 10 rebounds.     

The Sea Devils (0-1, 7-10) get back into action at home on Friday, Jan. 17 against Denmark Tech. Brunswick Community College heads to South Carolina on Saturday, Jan. 18 for a date at Spartanburg Methodist.
