Womens Soccer Advances to Conference Championship

Wilmington, NC (October 19, 2023) - Cape Fear Women's Soccer hosted the Richard Bland Statesmen for the Semifinal Round of Region 10 Conference play. The Sea Devils closed out the match with a 5-1 win and will advance to the Region 10 Championship game that will be played on Saturday, October 21st, at CFCC's North Campus Soccer Field.

The Sea Devils controlled the tempo throughout the entire match as they moved the ball quickly through the Statesmen's defense. Sophomore Justine Moesch earned a hat trick with 3 goals, while Alissa Campano and Halie Blizzard finished with 1 goal each. The final goal of the match was scored by the Statesmen with less than 5 minutes to play off of a loose ball that made its way in against the Sea Devils.

Cape Fear kept Richard Bland from making more than a few attacking runs throughout the entire match. Assists for the day came from Lauren Laux, Alissa Campano, Halie Blizzard, Maya McDonald, and Johanna Morales.

Interestingly, Moesch's first two goals were both scored off of her first two attacking touches of the match: a rarity to see on any pitch.

"We look forward to coming more prepared with a high level of intensity for the championship match on Saturday," says Head Coach C.W. Ponton. "Very pleased with the final score with the opportunity to move on to the next round."

Cape Fear Women's Soccer will take on the Wake Tech Eagles on Saturday, October 21st at North Campus Soccer Field at a time that is to be determined. All schedule updates will be available on the CFCC Women's Soccer schedule page on goseadevils.com
