Volleyball Finishes 2-1 in Road Trip

Hickory, NC - Cape Fear volleyball played three matches on Friday and came home 2-1 from their tournament at Catawba Valley CC.

The Sea Devils entered their first game Friday against Davidson County CC winning easily in 3 sets with scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 25-12.

Angelica Biele finished the match with 11 kills and 3 blocks, while Callie Weaver had 12 digs. Taylor Long finished strong with 3 blocks and 5 kills, while Ceri'on Ellis Mosley and Cassie Taylor each had 8 kills.

Their second matchup on Friday came against Guilford Tech. Again the Sea Devils dominated in three sets, winning by scores of 25-3, 25-11, and 25-12.

Ally Royal finished with with 4 aces and 2 kills, while Ivy Renn had 7 digs. Lauren Adams had 5 kills and Angelica Biele finished with 4 kills and 7 aces.

Unfortunately the Sea Devils dropped their final match of the day 0-3 against Catawba Valley CC. The Sea Devils found it difficult to find a rhythm, losing 25-21, 25-15, and 25-17.

Naomi Pegues led the team with 13 assists and Lauren Adams had 5 blocks. Taylor Long finished with 7 kills, while Angelica Biele had 7 kills and 11 assists.

Coach Heather Emborsky commented on the day, "loved the energy and effort from the team today, but we have to work on mental toughness, because we have the skills we need to beat any team. Proud of the showing from our team today!"

Now standing at 6-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play, Cape Fear will return to the court to face off against Wake Tech Community College on Saturday, September 28th at 2:30pm in the Schwartz Center.
