In Short: The Sea Devils returned home for their first conference matchup of the season with a clean 3-0 sweep against the Lenoir Lancers.

Highlights:

After a long road stand participating in various invitational tournaments, Cape Fear Volleyball kicks off their first Region 10 conference match against the Lenoir Community College Lancers in the Joe & Barbara Schwartz Center.

While Cape Fear has suffered a few injuries in the past few weeks, this has forced younger players to gain experience on the fly and returning players to drop into key positions to support their team. The Sea Devils believe that facing this hurdle of adversity towards the beginning of the season will set them up for success.

The Sea Devils finished off all 3 sets with speed and tact - leaving the lancers under 18 points with each set they won. Freshman Abby Morse finished the match with 8 kills while returning Sophomore Hannah McDowell earned 20 set assists to spread the wealth of scoring opportunities throughout the Sea Devils' lineup.

Outside Hitters Charly Meade and Kara Walker showcased their attacking strength throughout the match while Nora Pitt also presented herself as an attacking threat against the Lancers.

"Really happy with the way we came out and got the sweep," remarks Head Volleyball Coach Colby Rosser. "We Served tough to start the match, but we will be working hard on our serve receive as we head into more Region 10 conference play. Overall, great first win."

Up Next: Cape Fear will return to the Schwartz Center to face the Louisburg Hurricanes on Tuesday, September 13th at 6 PM.
