Sea Devils Finish Regular Season 9-3

CFCC Volleyball players celebrating with Charly Meade after a scored point on the court

In Short: Sea Devils Volleyball breaks even this weekend as they finish up Region 10 Conference regular season play.

Highlights:

Cape Fear Volleyball rounded off their final Region 10 Conference matchups of the year as they traveled to Virginia to take on the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats and the Richard Bland Statesmen on the road.

The Sea Devils swept the Bobcats on Friday night to solidify a 2-0 streak over Bryant & Stratton to finish off the season. Sophomore Charly Meade led the match with 9 kills while Sophomore Isa Yedo continues to build on her strong attacking streak this season with 8 kills.

Kara Walker registers 7 kills while continuing to establish her presence defensively with 11 digs for the Sea Devils. Freshman Leah Davis and London Ipsen both tallied 10 digs each to bring the sweep home for Cape Fear.

Sophomore Madalyn Rinck shined bright last night as she racked up 22 assists and 10 digs - a continuous improvement throughout the season on both attack and defense, and right on time for conference tournament play next week.

Overall, the Sea Devils dominated the match through their floor defense and consistency on attack. While the Bobcats never backed down and kept each of the 3 sets relatively close, the Sea Devils pulled out another great conference sweep.

Moving into Saturday afternoon, Cape Fear played an extremely tight 3 sets against the Richard Bland Statesmen - keeping them within 5-6 points at the end of each set and forcing the Statesmen to earn each win as the match progressed.

The Sea Devils earned 54 digs overall with Leah Davis leading the charge with 19, followed by Kara Walker with 14. Abby Morse and Madie Ballou totalled 8 blocks between the pair of them. Overall, the Sea Devils' defense kept them in it throughout all 3 sets. However, Cape Fear was not able to pull out the win against the Statesmen on their home court.

"I love competing against teams like Richard Bland because it makes us better each time," says Head Coach Colby Rosser. "The level of volleyball that was played was excellent and it is a great reflection of both our programs."
