WILMINGTON, NC--- An experienced group of sophomores lead the Sea Devil Men's Basketball program as they hit the hardwood for the two-day "Baltimore City Classic" from Baltimore, Maryland, beginning on Saturday afternoon. 

Cape Fear's first contest in the tournament features a match-up against Region 20 opponent and tournament host, Baltimore City Community College led by 10th year Head Coach Terry Maczko, who has the Panthers off a (7-4) overall, and (2-0) in Region 20 conference start.

"We look forward to playing Baltimore City Community College, they have some good players that match-up well with us. We'll need to have a great start, bring good energy for 40 minutes, and avoid foul trouble. If we can do that, and run our offensive sets and play solid defense, I like our chances," said Sea Devil Men's Basketball head coach Ryan Mantlo prior to Saturday's game. 

The Sea Devils are coming off a (120-74) road victory over Wake Tech Community College on Wednesday evening. 

Cape Fear has five players who are currently averaging double-digit points per game averages leading up to Saturday's contest versus the Panthers. Sophomore guard Trae Bryant, who is the team's leading scorer at 18.1 points per game while shooting 56.5% from the field and 48.3% on three pointers, while pulling down 4.5 rebounds per game and dishing out 3.4 assists per game in his 19.8 minutes played per game. Also leading the Sea Devils' is sophomore point guard Jacque Brown who ranks second in scoring at 15.0ppg and is the team's leading in assists at 5.4 per game. Freshman guard Alston Davis ranks third in scoring at 13.5ppg and in rebounds at 6.9 per game, while shooting 47.6% from the field, and 39.5% on his three pointers; while freshman guard Jerick Haynes is averaging 12.8ppg. Sophomore forward Alonzo Tyson rounds out the Sea Devils double-digit points per game player ranks with 10.5 points per game in his 15.5 minutes per contest. 

Key role players to watch for the Sea Devils versus Baltimore City are: Trevor Willis (9.9ppg), Tai-He Jeter (9.6ppg), Parrish Tinsley (6.6ppg), and Shaft Parker (3.4ppg). 

As for Baltimore City, the Panthers are coming off a (60-56) road victory over ASA College last Saturday in the closing game of the "Monroe College Classic."

Freshman forward Joe Hugley leads the team in scoring at 16.0 points per game in 19.7 minutes played per game this season, while making 52.0% of his three pointers, while point guard duo of Mekhi Bryant and Haneef Vaughn Wilson lead the Panthers' backcourt. Bryant is averaging 10.0ppg and 3.2 assists per game (2.0 assist/turnover ratio),while Vaughn-Wilson at 8.5ppg.Sophomore forward Deion Evans is also a player to watch in Saturday's contest, Evans is averaging 9.1ppg coming into Saturday's match-up versus the Sea Devils while averaging 3.1 rebounds (1.7-offensive, 1.4-defensive) as wel in 17.3 minutes played/game.

Series History:

This is the third all-time meeting between the two schools in Sea Devil Men's Basketball program history; the all-time series is tied at (1-1), it is the first game between the schools in two years.

12/14/14: Cape Fear won the last meeting (80-71) in Baltimore on December 14, 2014, with forwards Anthony VanHook (22pts), and Aaron Thomas (17pts) leading the way.

11/16/12: Baltimore City won the first ever match-up in the series history from Wilmington by the score of (87-86) in an overtime win.
