Alumni Spotlight: Demetric Horton

Wilmington, NC (August 21, 2023) – Cape Fear Men's Basketball Alumni Demetric Horton has signed on with Alimerka Oviedo Baloncesto, a professional men's basketball team based in Oviedo, Spain. From taking the court as a Sea Devil in 2018, to finishing off his collegiate career as an impact player for North Carolina A&T, Horton prepares to take his skills to a global level.

After competing with CFCC in the 2018-2019 season, Horton was picked up Purdue University Fort Wayne before capping off his college basketball career at North Carolina A&T - a NCAA Division I institution that has most recently joined the CAA Conference alongside local UNC-Wilmington. In 2023 Horton was selected to play in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) All-Star Game.

"My time at Cape Fear Community College really elevated my basketball skills," said Horton. "I learned patience and what it's like to play alongside older peers who have been in the game longer than I. It pushed me to work hard and get better."

"I am grateful for the opportunity to coach Demetric while he was here with us at Cape Fear," says Athletic Director Ryan Mantlo. "It brings us to much joy as an Athletic Department to see our student-athletes move on and achieve their goals."
