Wilmington, NC (December 6, 2023) - Cape Fear Men's Basketball finished strong against the Wake Tech Eagles for their first Region 10 Conference win on Wednesday night. The Sea Devils have won 5 straight games with 4 of them being at home in the Schwartz Center.

Cape Fear took the floor with the goal of sharpening up their defense and completing 20 deflections, as well as moving the ball quickly and efficiently around the perimeter to create scoring opportunities on the attack. The Sea Devils ended up with 23 total deflections and were able to spread the wealth through fast-paced ball movement and clean finishes under the hoop.

The Eagles managed to close the score gap after the Sea Devils gave up some uncontested drives in the second half, but Cape Fear managed to close out the game and keep the Eagles under 8 points at the minimum throughout the half. Most of Cape Fear's transition plays came from workhorse Khalil Marshall forcing turnovers or aiding in the ball's smooth transition into their offensive half, followed by Knoah Carver's offensive dominance to keep the Sea Devils ahead. Carver led the team in scoring with his personal season-high of 19 points. Korey Richardson continues to bring solid pacing to the Sea Devils' offense as the season progresses and ended with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Jalen Jefferson managed to produce a solid showing with 12 points, 3 steals and 3 blocks.

"It's always nice to start with a win in conference play," says Head Coach Mark Lane. "It doesn't get any easier moving forward with our upcoming away matchups, but we're going to keep putting in the work and hope to make things 2-0 in conference play coming up in our next game."
