Men's Basketball Wins Over Blue Lights College

Wilmington, NC (November 16, 2023) - Cape Fear Men's Basketball hosted Blue Lights College on Tuesday night and was able to utilize this non-conference matchup as a springboard into playing more in sync together as a team. The Sea Devils finished with triple-digit scoring and are excited to find this momentum early on in the season.

The Sea Devils came out swinging in the first half with 58 total points. Avion Pinner totaled 20 points with 6 rebounds and 2 steals for Cape Fear. Josh Laney earned 24 points to keep the Sea Devils up throughout the matchup, while Daniel Lubamba had 12 rebounds and 3 steals.

Cape Fear began working with different players coming off the bench who worked cohesively with the rest of the team to run plays and make big stops on defense. Both Luke Brigman and Knoah Carver went 100% from the free-throw line after drawing out fouls in the paint and widening the score gap.

The Sea Devils are excited to carry this energy and synchronicity into their upcoming matchups and have high hopes as they look to finish out their final games before the Thanksgiving holiday. "It was a total team effort tonight and we shared the ball a ton," says Head Coach Mark Lane. "We had some guys out today due to injury but other guys stepped up. Josh Laney was very good shooting for us tonight and Jalen Jefferson made some really nice plays on the ball as well."

Cape Fear Men's Basketball takes on Pitt on the road in Winterville, NC tonight, November 16th, at 7 PM.
