Men's Basketball Falls to Brunswick

Bolivia, NC (February 29-2024) - Cape Fear Men's Basketball traveled over the bridge to face off with their local Region 10 Conference rivals, the Brunswick Dolphins. In their last meeting, the Dolphins pulled out a 92-80 win on the Sea Devils' home court. Brunswick currently holds the #2 spot in the conference, while Cape Fear ranks at #6.

Cape Fear started off the game strong and was able to make a run early on the Dolphins. But Brunswick was able to take the momentum back with their rebounding prowess under both baskets - aiding them in maintaining the majority of possession in the first half. The Sea Devils were able to break through the Brunswick defense at times, but struggled to finish on others and lock them down defensively as they trailed the Dolphins by 10 points throughout the duration of both halves. The Dolphins answered every Sea Devil run with a run of their own and battled through every play to maintain their lead and ultimately finish out the game on top.

Knoah Carver led the Sea Devils with 3 three-pointers and a total of 16 points, while Khalil Marshall and Avion Pinner both finished with 11 points each.

"We started the game out with a nice run, but they outplayed us tonight, especially on the offensive end," says Head Coach Mark Lane. "We will get back on track as we prepare for Friday's game, as well as the conference tournament."

Cape Fear Men's Basketball will host the Richard Bland Statesmen for Sophomore Night on Friday, March 1st at 7 PM in the Schwartz Center.
