Men's Basketball Defeats Hines Prep

Wilmington, NC (December 2, 2023) - Cape Fear Men's Basketball returned to the Schwartz Center after the Thanksgiving break to take on preparatory academy Hines Prep on Saturday afternoon.

Cape Fear came out of the gate strong with 60 points in the first half alone. Defensively, the Sea Devils managed to minimize their fouls as they only earned 5 in total as a team against the Knights. Cape Fear's ball movement stood out as they seamlessly executed fast break layups from defensive rebounds on the opposite end of the floor. They managed to shut down the Knights offensively, fight for every rebound, and formulate clean play calls that ultimately led to their victory over the Knights.

Jalen Jefferson led the offense with 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Daniel Lubamba followed closely behind with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Knoah Carver also played a well-rounded game with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

With 4 straight wins and a 4-2 overall record moving into December, the Sea Devils look ahead to their upcoming conference matchups and out-of-town opponents that they plan on facing in the local Brunswick Holiday Classic tournament coming up in a few short weeks.

"Good to have a win coming off of a long break with these guys," says Head Coach Mark Lane. "We look forward to getting into Region 10 Conference play next week."

Cape Fear will take on Wake Tech on Wednesday, December 6th at 6 PM in the Schwartz Center.
