Men’s Soccer is Tournament Bound

Score: CFCC 9, Camp 1

Location: Franklin, VA

Record: 2-5-2

In Short: CFCC Men's Soccer drops Camp Community College 9-1 on their home turf to solidify their inclusion in the Region 10 Tournament this week.

Highlights: After an exhausting and scoreless Double-Overtime result the day before against Camp, the Sea Devils stepped onto the pitch refreshed and with a hunger to prove themselves. The midfield and attacking lines found their rhythm yesterday afternoon and put together effective offensive sequences to take control of the match within the first few minutes. With the Sea Devils' offensive lines in-synch, the back line had the capacity to further support their teammates from the backfield and put Camp's defense in compromising numbers-up situations that ultimately lead CFCC to a high percentage shooting day overall. Freshman Marcello Afonso achieved his first scoring hat trick of the season while Sophomores Josh Crisell and Ryland Hawksby each earned 2 goals and 1 assist - with Crisell playing in-goal for half of the match.

SeanPaulNegron (Fr.) finished with 1 goal and 2 assists while Casey Ly (Soph.) and Logan Wipperfurth (Fr.) contributed 1 assist each to achieve Sunday's contest result.

"It was a full team win and I could tell they were dialed in before the game even started," says Head Coach C.W. Ponton. "Every player was able to get significant minutes...now we rest up, study, and get prepared for our playoff game Wednesday."

Up Next: The Sea Devils will begin their first round of Region 10 Tournament play on Wednesday, October 27 at 3:00 PM against Louisburg College in Louisburg, NC.
