Women’s Basketball Notches Win Over Patriots

Location: Martinsville, VA

Updated Record: 2-2

Score: CFCC 92, Patrick Henry 57

In Short: The Sea Devils came together for a solid team win over Patrick Henry to begin their Thanksgiving Break on a high note.

Highlights:

After taking positive lessons from their latest win on Monday night, the Sea Devils were able to work together effectively and even out their current season record with a win over the Patrick Henry Patriots.

The team started off the game with fast-paced control and went on a 10-0 run at the beginning of the first quarter, but were easily reminded that they needed to lock in mentally as a collective and maintain that focus throughout the game as they allowed the Pats to gain some momentum to recover. The Sea Devils successfully upped their energy and maintained positive and effective communication on the floor to close out the first half with a lead. With the Starting 5 supporting each other both verbally and with their unselfish ball movement, as well as the bench bringing the necessary energy to keep the atmosphere positive, the Sea Devils finished their week 2-0 as they claimed another win over the Patriots yesterday evening.

Jada Kent (Fr.) scored her first collegiate points during the game, while NiAmoni Bagley (Soph,) was a force from the 3-Point line - finishing with 18 points and 9 of those being 3's.

"The first game of the season on the road is always pretty tough, but I am proud of the girls for keeping their composure and making the necessary adjustments to finish strong to take home the win," said Assistant Coach Taylor Todd-Williams.

Up Next: The Sea Devils will enjoy Thanksgiving Break next week before traveling to Walterboro, SC for a rematch with the USC Salkehatchie Indians on Wednesday, December 1st at 6 PM.
