Location: Joe & Barbara Schwartz Center - Wilmington, NC

Updated Record: 8-2

Score: Cape Fear 76, Louisburg 57

In Short: CFCC Women's Basketball notches another win under their belt against conference opponent the Louisburg Hurricanes at home in the Schwartz Center

Highlights:

After multiple game cancellations in a row due to COVID-19 protocols, Cape Fear arrived in the Schwartz Center excited to get back onto the court. The Hurricanes brought great energy to the first quarter of the matchup and caught the Sea Devils on their heels at first - forcing turnovers and only allowing 12 points from the Sea Devils to start. The Sea Devils struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities both in the paint and along the outside throughout the first half. However, Cape Fear continued to battle and their efforts paid off as they ended the first half in the lead 28-25 over the Hurricanes.

Moving into the second half, the Sea Devils managed to develop momentum and take advantage of more scoring opportunities against the Hurricanes. Rashauna Grant stepped up for Cape Fear with a total of 11 rebounds, 7 steals, and 2 blocks to finish out her stats for the night. The Sea Devils' fitness on the floor was noticeable as they were able to outlast the Hurricanes, fight to get more shots up, and support each other overall to finish the game strong.

Imani Sutton lead her team offensively with 20 points and 2 assists, while also doing her part on the defensive side of the ball with 3 rebounds and 5 steals. Meanwhile, Destiny Newkirk made the most of her time on the floor by making all of her freethrows and topping it off with 2 blocks.

"It felt good to finally get back in action after another break," remarked Head Coach Trae Bryant. "Looking forward to moving on and getting better."
