Sea Devils Fall Short to Eagles

Location: Raleigh, NC

Updated Record: 9-5

Score: Cape Fear 53, Wake Tech 56

In Short: After 4 Quarters of exhaustive play, CFCC Women's Basketball endured a close loss to the Wake Tech Eagles on the road.

Highlights:

Cape Fear Women's Basketball traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina on Monday night to take on Region 10 conference opponents, the Wake Tech Eagles, on their home court. The Sea Devils started the First Quarter having tough luck on defensive stops and were not able to capitalize on scoring opportunities early on. The Eagles were able to hit open jump shots and take advantage of mistakes made by the Sea Devils to solidify their position with an 18-6 lead. However, they rallied together and came out with heightened energy to close the gap. The Eagles lead the Sea Devils 31-20 while the two teams battled for control.

Moving into the Second Half, Cape Fear took the court with a sense of urgency and were hungry to recover from their initial setback. The Sea Devils were able to land more shots, reduce their turnovers, and attack with strength in the paint. Cape Fear ended up leading the Fourth Quarter in scoring and successfully returned to their usual high-energy gameplay, but were unable to finish it off as the Eagles ended the game 3 points ahead.

"We drifted away from the things that we do the best, but all we can do is learn from it," says Assistant Coach Taylor Todd-Williams.

Up Next: The Sea Devils will travel to Fayetteville, NC to take on the Fayetteville Tech Trojans tomorrow, February 10th, at 6PM.
