In Short: The Sea Devils kicked off the New Year at home with a team win over the Guilford Technical Community College Trojans.

Highlights:

The CFCC Women's Basketball team returns to Downtown Wilmington to resume the second half of their season. The Sea Devils are starting off the New Year adding another win to their belt and launching a 7-straight win streak for their 2021-2022 season.

The first quarter started off a bit slow for both teams as they were feeling each other out on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Once the Sea Devils found their rhythm, they were able to expose holes in the GTCC defense and create key turnover situations that lead to easy fast breaks and layups for CFCC. NiAmoni Bagley and Mia Brown both contained the Trojans well on defense and were crucial to the Sea Devils' offensive transitions throughout all four quarters.

While the Trojans regained some momentum in the third quarter, the Sea Devils fought to keep their lead by drawing key fouls and forcing turnovers throughout the second half. Akyia King was a force to be reckoned with from the 3-point line and kept the tempo up through her ball distribution on the attack.

Sea Devils overall standout Rashauna Grant did not disappoint as she finished the game with a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds. Grant continues to set the tone under the basket as she has done thus far this season against every Sea Devils matchup.

"Great way to enter the new year," says Head Coach Trae Bryant. "First game back from break and we did a great job of not letting the rust show. Had great effort for the majority of the game and I'm proud of the squad."
