Wilmington, NC - The results are in on Election Night and Cape Fear Community College keeps its perfect record and carries Wake Tech 83-73 in Raleigh.
JT Murphy scored 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half and the Sea Devils run their record to 3-0.
All-Region selection Faronte Drakeford led Cape Fear in the first half. Drakeford had 15 of his 17 points as the Sea Devils built a 37-36 first half lead. Drakeford finished the evening with his first double-double of the season grabbing a game high 12 rebounds.
Anthony Williams and Tony Menton joined Murphy with impressive second halves. Williams scored 10 of his 12 points and Menton had 9 of his 11 points in the second half. Freshman point guard turned in his third straight strong performance for the Sea Devils, as he dished out a game high 9 assists.
"We played with great intensity tonight and really controlled the game," commented head coach Ryan Mantlo. "We let Wake Tech have a couple runs but did a tremendous job of answering their runs with runs of our own."
The undefeated Sea Devils travel to Myrtle Beach this Friday night for a tilt with South Carolina Sports Academy. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. Cape Fear hits the road once again Wednesday evening as they battle Guilford Tech Community College, before making their home debut Nov. 16-17 with the Cape Fear Classic.
