Wilmington, NC - The Cape Fear Community College Sea Devils know that you can't find March Madness without a fantastic February. The college basketball season hits high gear for the Sea Devils as they begin a new month filled with Region 10 showdowns.
Cape Fear entertains Clinton Junior College and Spartanburg Methodist Friday and Saturday at the Schwartz Center. The Sea Devils are 2-1 in region play and 14-6 overall.
Saturday's game against Spartanburg Methodist is the biggest game of the season so far for the Sea Devils. Spartanburg Methodist is rated third in the nation at 22-0. Tipoff is set for 5 pm.
Friday night's showdown against Clinton is Homecoming at Cape Fear. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 pm with festivities beginning with a tailgate party at 5:00 pm.
The Sea Devils are averaging 83 points per game. While opponents are scoring at a 74 point clip per contest. All-Region forward Faronte Drakeford has led the Sea Devils in scoring all season averaging 19 points and seven rebounds per game. Landon Atterbery has been eligible since midseason. Atterbery is averaging 16 points per game in seven contests.
The Sea Devils will play nine Region 10 games in February. The Region 10 tournament begins March 7 in Walterboro, South Carolina.
