The Cape Fear Community College basketball team will test the top-ranked team among the nation's Division I junior colleges Friday night. The Sea Devils travel to undefeated Spartanburg Methodist in a Region 10 showdown set for Spartanburg, South Carolina.
It is just another day in Region 10 for the Sea Devils. Cape Fear is 17-7 and 5-2 in Region 10 play. The Sea Devils are looking to avenge an earlier 83-69 loss to Spartanburg Methodist earlier in the month at the Schwartz Center in Wilmington.
"We have to be ready to come into a hostile environment and control the tempo," according to Cape Fear Coach Ryan Mantlo. "With them being the #1 team in the country there will be a buzz in the air. It's going to be important we start fast and take the crowd out of the game quick."
This is game three of a crucial four-game roadtrip for the Sea Devils. Cape Fear is coming off wins at USC Salkehatchie and Aiken Technical College. Overall the Sea Devils have won four of their last five with the lone loss to Spartanburg Methodist.
The Sea Devils also play at Clinton Junior College Saturday evening in Rock Hill.
Cape Fear will close the regular season with a three-game homestand and then enter Region 10 tournament play March 7.
