Wilmington, NC – As the season draws to an end and with March on the horizon, Cape Fear looks to make one final push towards a championship. That push begins Wednesday night as they host rival, Brunswick Community College. Both teams enter the contest with an identical 18-10 record, but the Dolphins own a half game lead on the Sea Devils in conference standings.
"Not only does this mean a lot in terms of seeding, but this game can give us some momentum heading into the all-important Region 10 conference tournament," stated head coach Ryan Mantlo.
Brunswick edged the Sea Devils in the first match-up of the season, 90-76 in overtime. Cape Fear held a five point advantage with less than two minutes remaining, but Brunswick used a late surge to send the game into overtime, where they would eventually pull away from the Sea Devils.
The game also marks the final time the sophomore class will dawn Sea Devil blue at home. Cape Fear has been paced this season by Faronte Drakeford, who currently sits forth all time in scoring at CFCC with 879 points.
Tip-off for the contest is slated for 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Schwartz Center.
