Women's Soccer Dominates Wake Tech

Holly Springs, NC - Cape Fear women's soccer continued their dominance with a 6-0 win on the road against Wake Tech Community College.

This was the second meeting between the Sea Devils and the Eagles of Wake Tech. Cape Fear won the previous matchup 9-0.

The Sea Devils got on the scoresheet early, as Kaila Acuna's quality finish put the team up 1-0. Alaina Capps provided the assist. Carly Higgins, Cape Fear's leading goal scorer, doubled the lead in the 16th minute with a clean strike coming off an assist from Janessa Annis. A minute later, Sierra Raynor scored her only goal of the game. The goal came together after Perry hustled down the ball on what appeared to be a lost play. Keeping the ball in play, she found Raynor who put it in the back of the net.

Ten minutes before halftime, Capps scored on a nice solo effort to make it 4-0. Higgins put the team up by five right before halftime thanks to a great pass from Raynor. The team's entered halftime with Cape Fear leading 5-0.

The final goal came in the second half, as Annis set up Higgins for her hat trick.

As has been the case most of the season, goalkeepers C.J. Garvey and Kenedy Green split the game. Both did a good job of keeping the team organized as they earned another shutout.

Goals were aplenty again, but head coach Ryan Deppa praised his defenders for the play against the Eagles, and their improvement this season.

"Madison Bolen continues to get better in the back and is getting more comfortable in that role. Our outside backs Melani Anderson, Cheyenne Floyd, and Anderson O'Neal have continued to improve each week as outside backs. It is nice to see them all playing an important role when we have possession of the ball."

Today was Cape Fear's sixth shutout of the season and third in a row. They have allowed just six goals all season.

They improve to 11-0 on the season and 8-0 in conference. They play next on Tuesday, October 10th, where they will face Louisburg College on the road at 4:00 p.m.
