Sea Devils Triumph Over Statesmen

In Short: Cape Fear showed out offensively against the Region 10 NJCAA Division I Richard Bland Statesmen.

Highlights:

After patiently waiting for their rescheduled matchup to take place, the Sea Devils were excited to compete on their home turf against the Richard Bland Statesmen. Cape Fear Women's Soccer had been anxious to get back on the pitch after a few away matches had been postponed in recent weeks.

The Sea Devils established their presence early on as returning Sophomore Skyler Watson put the first goal in for Cape Fear. Freshman Maya McDonald scored 3 goals and tacked on 1 assist to round out her play on the Forward line. Emma Beehler played a major role in backfield transition to set up placement opportunities for the Forward line.

Cape Fear controlled the tempo throughout the match and worked together as a unit to finish out the game strong. Freshman Captain Alyssa Wright worked in 1 goal and 2 assists, while Freshman Lauren Laux scored an unassisted goal in the first half. Freshman Peri Farrar counted 2 assists with 1 goal for the Sea Devils.

"It was a good outing for our players and we were able to execute exactly what we set out to do," says Head Coach C.W. Ponton.

Up Next: The Sea Devils will take on Daytona State College at North Campus Soccer Field on Thursday, September 15th at 2PM.
