In Short: The Sea Devils battled and defeated the Louisburg Hurricanes at North Campus Soccer Field Wednesday afternoon - further solidifying their dominance at the top of the Region 10 Conference.

Cape Fear's last encounter with the Louisburg Hurricanes was a well-fought, close matchup resulting in a 3-2 win for the Sea Devils. This matchup was no different in its intensity and physicality between both teams.
Freshman Captain Alyssa Wright came out of the gate early with the first goal of the game in the first 2 minutes of play. The rest of the half was a continuous back-and-forth between the two teams with both defensive ends remaining poised and collected as they shut down offensive pursuits.
Lauren Laux was a key component to ball distribution throughout the midfield as the game progressed. Freshman workhorse Halie Blizzard tallied another goal for the Sea Devils with only a few minutes left to put them up 2-0 at the half.
Louisburg returned to the pitch in the second half with something to prove - as they notched the first goal of the half within the first 5 minutes. Maya McDonald answers with a beautiful goal of her own within the following minute, then slots a close one right past the keeper with 8 minutes left to further solidify the Sea Devils' lead.
Louisburg responds with a quick goal with 6 minutes left as their offensive efforts are still going strong. However, Cape Fear regains momentum and cultivates frustration between the Louisburg defense - causing a miscommunication and a penalty kick for the Sea Devils. Halie Blizzard places it in as Cape Fear rounds out their 5-2 win against the Hurricanes.
"We dominated on offense the whole game, which is what we love to see," says Head Coach C.W. Ponton. "Even when they fought back to put in a couple of goals on us, we were able to counter and score again seconds later. That's what we've been looking for this season."
