Womens Soccer Shatters Records vs Lenoir

In Short: Cape Fear wins again against the newly-established Lenoir Lancers in regular season play.

Highlights:

It was an afternoon of many "firsts" for Sea Devils Women's Soccer - though winning in conference play has been no different. Cape Fear traveled to play the Lenoir Lancers on their home field in Kinston, NC and earned various program accolades along the way.

Freshman powerhouse Maya McDonald broke the Sea Devils Women's Soccer record for most goals scored in a single match - tallying 6 goals over the Lancers. Freshman Lauren Laux also broke a program record for the most assists in a single match as she finished the afternoon with 5 assists and 1 goal.

Throughout the match, Freshman Halie Blizzard continued to be a driving force behind the midfield's success. Meanwhile, Ashley Bowling holds down the defensive line while scoring her first goal of the season off of a corner play.

Mid-season newcomer Justine Moesch continues to establish herself with 1 goal and 1 assist to finish the match. Freshmen Peri Farrar and Alissa Campano continue to push the pace on attack and were assets to their team this Saturday on that front.

"It was a great showing by our team," says Head Coach C.W. Ponton. "They were focused from the beginning to the end and I'm very proud of them. Now we rest and get ready for Monday."

Up Next: Cape Fear Women's Soccer will travel to Raleigh, NC in a rematch against conference opponent Wake Tech on Monday, October 17th at 1:30 PM.
