Volleyball Claims Win Over Trojans

Score: CFCC 3, FTCC 1

Location: Joe & Barbara Schwartz Center - Wilmington, NC

Records: 17-3

In Short: The Sea Devils went into a heated 4-Set matchup and came out on top over the Trojans.

Highlights: CFCC started off the match with consistent success off of their returns and were able to take the lead quickly. After a fairly dominant first set on the offensive, the Sea Devils lost their rhythm in the second set and were not able to connect defensively to contain the Trojans. However, the Sea Devils were able to solidify some key blocks and gathered enough momentum to power through the third set. Rounding out the fourth set, the Sea Devils still struggled with blocking errors when approaching the sidelines. But with improved communication throughout the lineup, they were able to put together enough deceptive offensive patterns to finish the set strong. The overall number of successful digs also improved as the Sea Devils upped their communication and locked in their focus after the second set.

Kara Walker (Fr.) earned a career-high of 21 kills, while Naomi Pegues (Soph.) reached a career-high in assists. Freshman Grace Pulido finished out the match with 24 digs.

Up Next: The Sea Devils are back in the Schwartz Center on Friday, October 22 for Sophomore Night & Youth Volleyball Night at 6 PM.
