Cape Fear Men's Basketball Defeated by Caldwell CC

Hudson, NC - Cape Fear men's basketball lost another close game, falling to Caldwell Community College, 77-75.

Caldwell led by six at halftime, but the Sea Devils outscored them 51-47 in the second half. Still, they came just short of snapping their current losing streak.

"We can't seem to turn the corner and get in the win column," said head coach Ryan Mantlo.

Zaqwaun Matthews led the Sea Devils with 20 points, while Kwe Parker added 13. Chase Byrd led Caldwell with 23 points.

The Sea Devils have now lost four straight games by one possession. While it has been a tough stretch, coach Mantlo believes his team will turn it around soon.

"The boys are working hard so I believe that turn [into the win column] will happen soon."

Cape Fear falls to 15-11 overall and 3-6 in conference play. They play next on Saturday, February 24th, where they will take on conference rival Brunswick Community College on the road at 4:00 p.m.
