Men's Basketball Cruises Past Clinton College

Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear men's basketball defeated Clinton College, 106-71, on Wednesday for their third win in a row.

Seven Sea Devil players scored in double figures, led by 21 points from Jalen Cameron. Zaqwaun Matthews and James Moore each scored 14, Eric Fox and Donte Tatum both added 11, while Jerick Haynes and Alston Davis finished with 10.

The win is the team's third in a row, but is their first win by over double-digits since January 20th, when they defeated Brunswick Community College at home, 88-74. After so many close wins and losses the past month and a half, head coach Ryan Mantlo was happy to see his team win in commanding fashion.

"We had fun tonight," said Mantlo. "I've been waiting for us to break loose and tonight we did. We are playing very good basketball heading into the tournament. It's now a three game season."

With the regular season concluded, the Sea Devils finish 4th in the conference at 6-6 and 18-11 overall.

They kick of the Region 10 tournament with a first round home matchup against Denmark Technical College. The teams split the season series, with each winning their home leg. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6th, at 7:00 p.m. at New Hanover High School.
