Sea Devils Lose Final Game of Holiday Classic

Americus, GA - Cape Fear lost the final game of the Holiday Classic, falling to Division I #2 ranked Shelton State Community College, 110-74.

A rough first half put the Sea Devils in a difficult spot, as they trailed 61-27 at halftime. However, they came out much better in the second half, and outscored Shelton State by seven in the third quarter.

"Day three is always the toughest when playing in a Holiday Classic," said head coach Lori Drake. "After coming out flat in the first half, our ladies came out hard in the second half winning the third quarter 28-21."

While Cape Fear played much better in the second half, the hole was too much to climb out of, especially against the second ranked team in NJCAA Division I.

The weekend didn't go as well as the Sea Devils would've hoped, but coach Drake believes they can build off of it.

"All three games were huge for our growth in moving forward in our season."

Andreal Bass led the Sea Devils with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Ayonna Cotten scored 14 points. Tracey Kemp added 10.

Cape Fear falls to 9-5 on the season. They play next on Friday, January 5th, where they will take on Guilford Tech Community College on the road. Tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
