Servin' It Up: Setter Faryn Salazar Commits to Keiser University

WILMINGTON, NC--- Sophomore setter Faryn Salazar of the Sea Devil Women's Volleyball program has announced she has signed a Letter of Intent to play for NAIA women's volleyball powerhouse, Keiser University (West Palm Beach, FL). 

"I'm beyond thankful for this oppurtunity to continue playing my last two years at such a great school. I am excited to play with a great group of girls and learn new skills from my new coach [Chris Taylor]. I wanted to thank my parents for helping me through this process as well as giving me all their love and support. I couldn't have done it without them, my amazing team and coaches that I will miss so much. I can't wait to start this journey. Go Seahawks!", said Faryn Salazar following signing her LOI [Letter of Intent] with the Seahawk women's volleyball program. 

The Seahawk women's volleyball program finished their 2016-2017 season with a (21-8, (8-6 in Conference) overall record finishing the season with a semifinals appearance in the conference tournament. The program also finished with an impressive (13-2) home record. 

Salazar will join fellow Seahawk returnee setters Miranda Jickell (5-9, rising junior), and Morgan Stuive (5-6, rising senior) in the rotation as the Seahawks' primary setters as senior Nicole Papineau will depart from the program after finishing up her four-year tenure with the team. 

The 2016-2017 Seahawk women's volleyball team finished this season for a combined for 1851.0 Total Points (16.3 Points/Set), 1189 Kills (12.26 Kills/Set), .244 Attack%, 1094 Assists (11.28 A/S), and 227 Service Aces.

The Seahawk women's volleyball program is led at the helm by fifth year head coach Chris Taylor. Taylor has had notable seasons that have included 21 wins in 2016 and a career high 22 wins in 2015. Keiser University this season had notable wins over Saint Thomas University (ranked #21 at the time), Florida College, Marian University (finished 22-12), Montreat College (finished 14-19), and Milligan College (finished 31-8). 

Salazar finished her career at Cape Fear Community College under the direction of Sea Devil Women's Volleyball head coach Emily Coleman from 2015-2017; appearing in 56 Matches (187 Sets Played) during her two-year tenure on the team.  

As a freshman, Salazar was part of the Sea Devil Women's Volleyball program that finished the season with a (20-8), (13-3 in Region 10 Conference) record, a record that earned them a semifinals finish in the Region 10 postseason tournament. Salazar would appear in 28 matches (97 sets played), while adding a 5.67 A/S Ratio, 49 Kills, 14 Service Aces, .573 Attack%, 113 Digs, and 89.5 Total Points. 

As a sophomore, Salazar was a part of the program that finished the season with a (21-7), (15-1 in Region 10) record, a record that earned them a runner-up finish in the Region 10 postseason tournament. Salazar appeared in 28 matches (90 sets played) while adding a 4.18 A/S Ratio, 27 Kills, 24 Service Aces, .563 Attack%, 121 Digs, and 52.0 Total Points. 

Salazar finished her career with 56 Match Appearances (187 Sets Played), a 4.95 A/S Ratio, 926 Assists, 234 Digs, 76 Kills, 38 Service Aces, .569 Attack%, and 141.5 Total Points.
