Womens Basketball to Host Annual Carly Rae Classic

Womens Basketball to Host Annual Carly Rae Classic

Wilmington, NC (October 18, 2023) – Cape Fear Women's Basketball is proud to announce that they will host the 3rd annual Carly Rae Classic tournament to kick off the 2023-2024 season in the Joe & Barbara Schwartz Center. The tournament is named after the late Carly Rae Baron, a beloved student and former Cape Fear Women's Basketball player who tragically passed away in the Fall of 2020.

Carly Rae was a dedicated student, avid basketball player, aspiring model, and friend to many. She was a source of inspiration and positivity for her teammates, with a laugh that could light up an entire room. The Carly Rae Classic tournament was established in 2021 to celebrate her life and love of the game with the surrounding Wilmington community. The Carly Rae Classic brings teams together for a weekend of spirited competition, camaraderie, and remembrance. During Saturday games, there will be a memorial tribute to Carly Rae, where her family will be present to share in the commemoration.

The game schedule for the weekend, per the Cape Fear Women's Basketball 2023-2024 official game schedule page, is as follows (all schedule updates will be available on the Cape Fear Women's Basketball official schedule page):
