Wilmington, NC (February 17, 2024) - Cape Fear Women's Basketball took the floor for the second time this season against the Louisburg College Hurricanes. Cape Fear's first loss of the season was to Louisburg on the road a few weeks back. Both teams battled until the bitter end, but ultimately, the Louisburg Hurricanes pulled out their victory 69-67 over the Sea Devils.

The Sea Devils kicked off the game in the lead 19-15. While Louisburg hit a few clutch 3-pointers throughout the first half and drew some early fouls to put the Hurricanes on the foul line for extra points, Cape Fear continued their usual routine of making solid defensive stops and then scoring in fast-paced transition that every Region 10 opponent struggles to keep up with. Cape Fear and Louisburg ended the first half even at 30-31 with the Hurricanes taking the slight lead.

Moving into the second half, both teams went back and forth for the most part, but Cape Fear struggled with missing a few important baskets as well as getting a few key players into foul trouble. But the Sea Devils hung in long enough to tie things up 57-57 to take the game into overtime.

The Sea Devils fought hard to get ahead, but a stunning 3-pointer in the final minute of overtime put the Hurricanes in the lead. Cape Fear attempted to get one more shot up to keep them alive, but wasn't able to close out the game and finished with an overtime loss.

Cape Fear will return to the Schwartz Center on Wednesday, February 21st at 11 AM vs the Brunswick Dolphins.
