Shelby, NC (January 14, 2024) - Cape Fear Women's Basketball wins their 10th game in a row and remains undefeated in regular season play. The Sea Devils are 7-0 in Region 10 Conference play and were able to pull out a win over the Yetis of Cleveland CC.
The Sea Devils started off the game with strong momentum over the Yetis. Ciarra Sims led the charge with 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals. Kelly Holmgren made also an impact with 18 points and 5 rebounds, followed by steals.
Maya McDonald, a CFCC Women's Soccer standout, had her basketball debut and finished with an exciting double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds, plus 3 steals.
While the majority of the first half went by smoothly with the Sea Devils in the lead, the game began to slow down as technical fouls and foul trouble plagued Cape Fear. As their lead over the Yetis widened, Cape Fear's roster grew smaller as they finished the game with less than 5 players on the court. Despite this setback towards the end, the Sea Devils finished with an overwhelming lead and continue to dominate the Region 10 Conference.
Cape Fear Women's Basketball will return to the Schwartz Center on Wednesday, January 17th at 6 PM vs Guilford Tech.
