Women's Basketball is 4-0 After Sunday Win

Wilmington, NC (November 16, 2023) - Cape Fear Women's Basketball hosted the Cleveland CC Yetis on Sunday afternoon - making this the Sea Devils' second Region 10 Conference opponent matchup of the season thus far. Cape Fear dominated most of the game and finished with an insurmountable victory over Cleveland that put them with a 2-0 record in conference play.

The Sea Devils started off on their back foot in the first quarter - making unforced errors and lacking in communication. But Cape Fear turned the engine on in the second quarter and began to dominate the game. The Sea Devils began moving the ball well and setting each other up for selfless plays across the floor, which earned them 26 points in the second quarter alone.

Kelly Holmgren was instrumental in turning the tides between the first two quarters, as she finished the game with 23 points with 5 steals. Demya Chisholm was not as successful in the shooting category on Sunday afternoon but still aided in the team's success greatly with 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals for Cape Fear.

Cape Fear managed to push the tempo on defense in the second half and continued to develop their goal of finishing points in transition to their basket. Khauri Little was unstoppable in attacking the gaps in the Yeti's zone, drawing fouls that put her 8 for 8 at the free-throw line.

The Sea Devils finished a team-oriented basketball game with 16 assists overall and a solid win over a conference opponent.

"Great defense and transition buckets were the main focus and highlight of our victory tonight," says Head Coach Taylor Todd-Williams.

Up next, Cape Fear Women's Basketball will host the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats (VA) on Saturday, November 18th at 1 PM for their third Region 10 conference matchup of the season.
