Cape Fear Beats the Bobcats in Overtime

Wilmington, NC (November 18, 2023) - Cape Fear Women's Basketball hosted the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats (VA) on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats and the Sea Devils maintain a healthy rivalry at the top of the Region 10 Conference year over year - and this season is no different.

The entire game was played within less than 5-point leads between the Bobcats and the Sea Devils. Cape Fear did a solid job working together to limit the Bobcats' scoring opportunities in the paint, but a few 3-pointers floated in throughout the game to keep the Bobcats in it. Cape Fear also struggled to make layups and take advantage of their many fast-break scoring opportunities. The Sea Devils finished the first half ahead 28 to 23.

The game remained close, while also low-scoring, through the third and fourth quarters. After a hard-fought final minutes, the Bobcats and Sea Devils went into overtime at 47 all. The Sea Devils came out on top 60 to 59.

Jaci Bolden and Khauri Little were both integral pieces in Cape Fear's final minutes - holding possession and being patient while also maintaining their aggression in the paint.

"This was a game of trust for us," says Head Coach Taylor Todd-Williams. "Khauri Little knocked down key free throws in overtime and that was huge for us, but this was a total team effort. We have a lot of respect for Bryant & Stratton and their head coach because it's always a hard matchup. So proud of this team for trusting each other and making the adjustments to win."
