CFCC is proud to congratulate CFCC Women's Basketball alumni Nyjanique "Ny" Langley who was invited and participated in the WNBA Combine held in Cleveland, Ohio this past Saturday, April 6th.

Ny is a North Carolina native from Greenville, NC, where her jersey is now retired at North Pitt High School. "I didn't originally consider going to a 2-year college to play basketball as I received many offers from NCAA institutions while I was in high school," reflects Langley.

"But once I had my first recruiting visit to Cape Fear, I instantly fell in love with Wilmington and CFCC."

In the time that Langley spent with CFCC from 2018 to 2020, she played an integral role in the Sea Devils Women's Basketball 2019 Region 10 Conference Championship title and their National Junior College Association (NJCAA) National Tournament final four (3rd place) appearance. She currently holds the Cape Fear Women's Basketball records for most assists and most steals in a single season, as well as the third-highest single-season scorer in CFCC Women's Basketball history.

But Langley's story wasn't always easy. After tearing her ACL at the beginning of her Sophomore year at CFCC, she knew she had to dig deep to overcome new obstacles. "I worked so hard with my rehab and taking care of myself that I was able to recover two months earlier than the expected timeline for my injury," says Langley.

"I won a championship ring in my Senior year of high school, then did it again my Freshman year at Cape Fear before my injury, so I knew I had to work hard to get back on track."

After a short stint transferring to Duqsquene University in Pennsylvania, Ny signed on to join the Virginia Union University Panthers where she spent the remainder of her collegiate basketball career. As she reflects on her path forward in professional basketball, Ny remembers her success at Cape Fear fondly.

"I still talk to my old teammates and coaches from Cape Fear," she says. "Basketball is a beautiful thing that brings important people into your life and I will always cherish my time at CFCC."

With support from her family, friends, and CFCC Women's Basketball teammates and coaches at her back, Nyjanique Langley awaits her results as the 2024 WNBA Draft is slated to take place on Monday, April 15th.
