Volleyball Pushes Streak to Eight

Wilmington, NC - As part of breast cancer awareness month, the Sea Devils held their annual dig pink match on Wednesday night and grabbed a straight set 3-0 sweep over Wake Tech. Cape Fear won its eighth straight to remain unbeaten on their home floor, while improving to 9-2 in conference and 14-6 overall.

While the Sea Devils were able to grab the victory, it was a hard fought result after jumping out to a two game lead, ultimately pulling out a 26-24 win to clinch the match.

"We played some of the prettiest volleyball I've seen us play," said CFCC Coach Emily Coleman. "The first two sets were beautiful. We protected our house once again and continue to make strides heading down the stretch."

Rachel Braunschweig recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs. Bailey Toman also swung a heavy hand with 10 kills and Faryn Salazar recorded 30 assists in passing game.

Cape Fear continues a three-game home stand with a big weekend against Catawba Valley and Louisburg College on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Sea Devils dropped an early season contest to Catawba Valley and outlasted the Hurricanes 3-2 in late September.
