Cape Fear Remains Perfect

Lancaster, SC - Miguel Ramos scored the game-winner in the 85th minute as Cape Fear Community College picked up a 4-3 road win at USC-Lancaster on Thursday night.

"We were lucky to get a result today," said CFCC Coach Chris Libert. "We played well at times and scored some goals, but let them back in the game too easy."

The Sea Devils jumped out to an early two score advantage thanks to a pair of goals from Andrew Goodman, but Lancaster got on the board late in the first half before Vlyle Walker found the back of the net off an assist by Austin Walker to give Cape Fear a 3-1 edge.

USC-Lancaster responded and equalized in the 77th minute before Ramos netted the go ahead goal to break the 3-3 tie. Franco Fernandez and Ian Burris both picked up an assist for the Sea Devils, while Connor Belk finished with three saves.

"You never complain about a win," Libert added. "So it's in the books and onto the next one. It's nice to pick up our first conference win and remain undefeated, but will be tested quickly this weekend."

Cape Fear improved to 1-0 in league play and 4-0 overall. The Sea Devils return to the pitch at home against Richard Bland Community College on Saturday, September 5.
