Sea Devils Finish Regular Season

Sea Devils Finish Regular Season

Wilmington, NC - After finishing the regular season with a 1-1 draw against Wake Tech on Sunday, the Cape Fear Community College men's soccer team will hit the road for the first round of the Region 10 Tournament.

With back-to-back games over the weekend, the Sea Devils bounced back from a 2-1 setback against Patrick Henry to earn a tie in their final home match of the year.

Cape Fear was unable to convert on a handful of opportunities in the season finale after Andrew Barton scored in the 26th minute off a corner kick from Miguel Ramos. A missed penalty kick for the Sea Devils late in the match turned out to be a huge momentum swing as Wake Tech equalized in the 84th minute.

"We didn't finish numerous chances, including the gift penalty kick and let Wake Tech hang around," said CFCC Coach Chris Libert. "The regular season is over now and it's time to focus on the postseason."

Cape Fear enters tournament play against No. 4 seed Richard Bland College. The Sea Devils finished the regular season 3-8-3 in conference and 6-8-3 overall.
