Sea Devils Back In Winning Column

Wilmington, NC - Tyus Lopez tallied twice to give the Cape Fear Community College men's soccer team its first result in six tries as the Sea Devils defeated USC-Lancaster 2-1 on Saturday.

"It was good to get back in the win column today," said CFCC Coach Chris Libert. "We are still extremely thin due to injuries, but we put the work in to get the job done.

Lopez put Cape Fear on the board just before the break on an assist from Brett Council and the sophomore scored his second goal of the season in the 74th minute for a big insurance score before USC-Lancaster closed the deficit late in the match. Connor Belk made three saves for the Sea Devils.

Cape Fear recorded 23 shots in the win, improving to 3-6-1 in conference and 6-6-1 overall. The Sea Devils return to action at USC-Salkehatchie on Monday, Oct. 19.
