Sea Devils Fall to Hurricanes

Wilmington, NC - The Sea Devils opened a brief two-game home stand on Tuesday afternoon, but let a one goal first-half deficit slip away as Louisburg College defeated Cape Fear Community College 7-0 in Region 110 play.

Louisburg entered the match as the No. 6 team in the country, but the Sea Devils held strong until the final 45 minutes saw the visitors light the lamp six times in the result. Connor Belk made eight saves for Cape Fear.

"A heartbreaker today," said CFCC Coach Chris Libert. "We play a nationally ranked team so close in the first half and can't put in a complete effort. We had our chances early, but never came back out. You have to put two halves together to compete in any game. It's unfortunate we miss this opportunity to upset one of the best in the country."

Cape Fear fell to 2-3-1 in conference and 5-3-1 overall. They return to the pitch at home against Spartanburg Methodist on Friday, September 25.
