Louisburg Tops Sea Devils

Louisburg, NC - The Cape Fear Community College men's soccer team had their hands full with nationally-ranked Louisburg College as the No. 1 Hurricanes shutout the Sea Devils 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

"We just couldn't keep pace with a quality side in Louisburg," said CFCC Coach Christ Libert. "Conner Belk had 20 saves in the game facing 27 shots."

Louisburg College found the back of the net three times over the opening 45 minutes and put the match away in the second half. The Hurricanes improved to 11-1-0 and moved up to the top-ranked team in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Top 20 poll after being listed fourth last week.

Cape Fear Community College dropped their second straight game and fell to 2-6-1 in league play. The Sea Devils have now lost four of their last five and stand at 5-6-1 overall heading into a conference match at home against USC-Lancaster on Saturday, Oct. 17.
