Women's Basketball Continues Winning Streak

Spartanburg, SC - Cape Fear women's basketball continued its winning streak on Sunday, defeating conference opponent Spartanburg Methodist 81-61.

Leading the team in scoring for the Sea Devils was TaKwana Bland, who scored 17 points. Also contributing to the win was Desaree Green, who finished with 15 points, along with Destiny Campbell and Nikia Wallace, who scored 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Head coach Lori Drake believes this win says a lot about how her team has improved.

"I am really proud of how hard our ladies played today. We grew and got better this weekend."

After defeating Clinton Junior College on Saturday by just two points, Cape Fear came away with a much more dominating performance. Drake was happy her team could put together a win by such large margin.

"It feels nice winning by 20, instead of winning by two. We need wins like this, as it helps us see how great we really are."

The Sea Devils improve to 7-2 on the season, and remain 5-0 in conference. Their next game is scheduled for December 15th, where they will take on Caldwell Community College in the first game of the Brunswick Holiday Classic at Brunswick Community College. Tip off is set for 12:00 p.m.
