Sea Devils Defeat Patrick Henry

Wilmington, NC - The Cape Fear Women's Soccer team remains undefeated on the season, beating Patrick Henry Community College 3-0. Three different Sea Devils would score in the win.

The Sea Devils dominated much of the game, with 26 shot attempts and 20 shots on goal. Cape Fear goalkeeper Elizabeth Ethridge recorded six saves.

Head Coach Ryan Deppa was impressed in the way his team played on both ends against the Patriots. "Patrick Henry is much improved and we still were able to protect our goal and create numerous goal scoring chances."

Cape Fear had a good chance to score early in the game, as Gabby Serpa had a shot saved by the goalkeeper in the 2nd minute. They would also get a couple other solid chances at goal in the 16th, 19th, and 22nd minutes.

A breakthrough would finally come in the 22nd minute, as Alyssa Coustenis would score her second goal of the season off an assist from Sierra Raynor. Cape Fear would get 10 more shots on goal in the first half, but would be unable to extend the lead.

The Sea Devils second goal wouldn't come until the 58th minute, with Jenna Pecorini scoring her first goal of the season.

Cape Fear's third would come late, as Janessa Annis would score her 4th goal of the season.

Coach Deppa felt a total team effort helped with the result. "Once again we did a great job working hard for each other."

Along with playing together as a team, Coach Deppa felt his team's preparation during the week paid off. "The entire team worked well in training this week and I believe that showed in the game."

The Sea Devils improved to 3-0 in the season with the win. They will return to the field Saturday, September 10th, where they will face USC Salkehatchie at 6:00 p.m. in Wilmington.
